Format Code(?) in New Post

When creating a new topic post, there is a menu item icon {;} that show as "Format Code" when I  hover over the icon. Can anyone tell me what this does and/or what is it used for?

    Hi Neil , the format code icon applies "pretty print" formatting to programming code in your post. This is useful when you need to provide samples of script or code.

    Got it. It literally means "Format Code"!  馃檪
