Test Hyperlink for article/topic

I like to test a hyperlink in an article without publishing the article. Is this possible?  If not, do you have a suggestion on how to test a hyperlink in a published article without the article being accessed by the community? I see a way to restrict to a group but this appears to be for categories only.  Thank you.,

Thanks for your question! Yes, you can test a hyperlink without publishing to the community. A few options depending on your situation:

    If it's a new article you're creating:

    1. In Admin, go to Moderate and create the topic.
    2. Save it as a Draft instead of publishing.
    3. In the side column, click Preview topic in community.

The preview shows the article as it will appear to members, so you can click the hyperlink and confirm it works before anyone else can see it.

If it's an article that's already published:

    1. Open the article, click Copy, and select Current category from the gear menu. This creates a duplicate you can work in safely.
    2. Make your edits on the copy and save it as a Draft.
    3. Click the preview link in the side column to test the hyperlink.

    If you test links regularly:

Some teams keep a private category as a staging area. You publish articles there, test everything fully in the live view, then move each one into its public category once it's ready. This gives you a real published environment to work in without exposing anything to the community early.

Once everything checks out, you can move or update the live article with confidence. Let us know if you have any questions along the way.

I thought that I might be able to Publish (goal to keep the url link) and hide the article from view or search ability in the help center.

Thank you for this information!  The goal is to keep the same URL so I think creating the draft article in the Category that the article will be published is my best bet.
