Control member sign-ups by email domain
To help manage your community, you can control which email domains are allowed for new member sign-ups. This feature is useful if you want to:
- Restrict sign-ups to company email addresses.
- Prevent spam by blocking free email providers.
- Require moderator approval for members using certain domains.
Block sign-ups by email domain
The following options are available:
- Automatically block sign-ups from free email providers such as Yahoo, Hotmail, and Gmail. This includes over 3,000 domains. See examples of blocked domains.
- Block sign-ups from specific domains that you define.
To enable this feature, go to Admin > Settings > Moderation.
Note: This setting only applies to new member sign-ups. Existing members will not be affected.
Require approval for sign-ups by email domain
As an alternative, you can choose to review and approve them based on email domain. When a user signs up with a specified email domain, moderators can approve or deny their request.
The following options are available:
- Require moderator approval for sign-ups using free email providers. See examples of blocked domains.
- Require moderator approval for sign-ups from specific domains that you define.
To enable this feature, go to Admin > Settings > Moderation.
