Control member sign-ups by email domain

To help manage your community, you can control which email domains are allowed for new member sign-ups. This feature is useful if you want to:

  • Restrict sign-ups to company email addresses.
  • Prevent spam by blocking free email providers.
  • Require moderator approval for members using certain domains.

Block sign-ups by email domain

The following options are available:

  • Automatically block sign-ups from free email providers such as Yahoo, Hotmail, and Gmail. This includes over 3,000 domains. See examples of blocked domains.
  • Block sign-ups from specific domains that you define.

To enable this feature, go to Admin > Settings > Moderation.

Note: This setting only applies to new member sign-ups. Existing members will not be affected.

Require approval for sign-ups by email domain

As an alternative, you can choose to review and approve them based on email domain. When a user signs up with a specified email domain, moderators can approve or deny their request.

The following options are available:

  • Require moderator approval for sign-ups using free email providers. See examples of blocked domains.
  • Require moderator approval for sign-ups from specific domains that you define.

To enable this feature, go to Admin > Settings > Moderation.
