Create a new topic post

In Forumbee, a new post is called a "topic". Follow these steps to add a new topic.

As a moderator for your community, you can either post a new topic from within the Community (the members area) or from within the Admin > Moderate area. Editing posts from within the Moderate area provides a few additional capabilities, so we will cover that in this article.

Create a topic

  1. Go to Admin > Moderate and click Add Topic.

  2.  Select a category to post into. Enter a title and a description.

  3. To add images or file attachments, drag and drop them into the topic area.

  4. To add video, click the video icon and paste the link to your video. Supported video services include YouTube, Vimeo, Wistia and Vidyard.

  5. Save your changes.
    • Click Save Draft  to save what you have and continue editing it later. After saving the draft, click Preview topic to preview it in the community.
    • Click Publish to post the topic in the community. After publishing, click View topic in the side column to view it in the community.

Edit a topic

To edit an existing topic, click Edit.

For more options, click the gear icon. Options include:

  • Edit
  • Set status (available for the following topic types: questions, ideas, and issues)
  • Pin: permanently anchors the topic to the top of the category above all other topics.
  • Bump: updates the active date on the topic to bring it to the top of the list
  • Close replies
  • Move: select a category to move the topic into
  • Copy: create duplicate of this topic. You will have the option to edit and make changes to the copy prior to publishing.
  • Change type: change the topic type to idea, question, article, issue, event, or discussion.
  • Remove post

Hello, I'm testing ForumBee for our organization and love your platform.

I have a question about editing posts.  It seems a member cannot edit their initial post in a discussion - only an admin or moderator can.  We would love for our members to have, say, a 15-minute window to edit their post.  (We would be moderating  all initial posts in a discussion, so that may be a factor in our use case.)

Is this something you'd be able to customize for us?

    Thanks in advance.

Hi Michelle , thanks for your question! The edit link is available to members for the time limit you have specified in Admin > Settings > Posts. The default is 15 minutes for replies, but can be changed there.

Forumbee Support Great - thank you!  My team and I are compiling some questions to send to our Forumbee rep and I'll bring that up in our email. (Thanks also for the fast response time!)
