Viewing new community activity

This article describes how to check the latest community activity and navigate to posts you haven't read.

New and unread posts

Topics that you haven't read are bolded in the topic list. After viewing a topic, it will be marked as read and unbolded.

When new replies are added after you read a topic, the count of new replies is shown on the topic:

Filter by unread

From the filter menu, select Show unread. This shows unread topics and topics with new replies.

Filter by areas of interest

From the filter menu, select Show followed categories and Show followed topics. This will show topics in categories you are following, and topics you have followed directly.

Inbox zero

If you also enable the filter Show unread, you will only see what's new in your followed areas. Using these three filters together can help you work toward "Inbox Zero." As you click to view each topic, the topics are set to read and disappear from this filtered view, until you have cleared all new posts:

Viewing unread replies

If new replies are added in a topic after you view it, you'll see a new reply indicator for that topic.

Reply navigator 馃椇

Click the topic to view the new replies. A notification popup will appear in the upper right with short previews of the new replies.

Click "Next" to jump to each new reply in the discussion. If replies are nested they can be located in different locations in the discussion. The reply navigator sorts this out, guiding you through each sub-thread with new replies.

Reset "read" status

The category actions menu provides options to reset your topic "read" status.

  • Mark all read: Marks all topics as read in the current category.
  • Mark all unread: Marks all topics as unread in the current category.

Selecting these options while in the All Topics view will apply to all topics in all categories.
